Lindsay Borgeson, Chief Deposit Officer at Core Bank, was committed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser 
for the last couple of months and did a variety of fundraising activities to raise $22,000 with her team. One fun event was a pie-throwing contest at Core Bank that raised almost $500 with staff participating in throwing pies or getting the pies in their faces.
Of the three pillars, the one dear to Lindsay’s heart is the research pillar that she was recognized for at the finale night. Lindsay supports this cause in honor of her stepmother, Jolene Lee. Advances in medical treatment gave her family 30 additional years with Jolene.
Jolene was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 27 and the prognosis was not favorable. Jolene was randomly selected to participate in one of the first stem cell transplants which her family credits for saving her life. They were told she would never have more children, which was crushing for a second-grade teacher with a love of children, however, she defied the odds and had two more sons. Ultimately, continued research is key to ensuring treatments of the future are less toxic. The lasting effects of the radiation Jolene underwent took her in 2017.

- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

The 10-week campaign of all the Visionaries raised a total of $134,000 for LLS. We are very proud of Lindsay for her leadership and determination to make a difference in the community through her support of LLS.
