It’s National Bagel Day on January 15th, and we’re proud to celebrate one of our amazing family-owned business customers Bagel Bin, located at 1215 South 119th Street in Omaha! Known for serving authentic New York-style bagels, Bagel Bin brings a one-of-a-kind flavor to Omaha serving customers for over four decades.

The story of Bagel Bin began in 1977 when Joel and Susan (Sue) Brezack moved from New York to Omaha with their three sons—David, Scott, and Glenn—driven by their passion for authentic bagels. Sue, originally from Omaha, visited her brother in New York as a young adult. Her brother worked at a grocery store, where she met her brother’s boss and friend Joel. She and Joel went out on a few dates and got married and decided to start the Bagel Bin during a visit to Omaha to see family – when one Sunday, Joel went out to get bagels for the family but found out that there were none in all of Omaha. Sue said, “Starting the Bagel Bin was a gamble, but so worth it.”

Guided by their strong religious values, they made the bold decision to make Bagel Bin entirely Kosher, establishing it as a symbol of quality and tradition in the community. They pride themselves in keeping what the Jewish community needs and accommodating the rest of the community on all their needs making their establishment entirely Kosher. They are supervised by the Vaad of Omaha.

Bagel Bin’s remarkable growth has been fueled by the loyalty of their customers and a thriving wholesale network. They focus on delivering what customers want, not just what they choose to sell. Many loyal customers have been visiting for years, forming a close-knit community with the Brezack family. Sue, now 78, still loves working at the store, chatting with customers, and being surrounded by family and friends. David shared that they’ve felt they’ve been open so long with people knowing their mom and making it a comforting place and said, “It’s a hidden spot, but all our customers know where it’s at.”

Even after a devastating fire nearly 15 years ago, Bagel Bin came back stronger. The rebuild allowed them to modernize the original space and upgrade equipment, turning a setback into a fresh start. “I look at the fire as a blessing, because it cleaned everything out and got us all new equipment,” said David.

Bagel Bin offers 18 varieties of freshly made; non-dairy bagels crafted with high-gluten flour for a uniquely firm texture. Every bagel is baked fresh daily—they never sell day-old bagels. Unsold bagels are picked up weekly and generously donated to the Siena Francis House or repurposed for a farm in Yutan. Plus, they even have small doggie bagels so your furry friends can enjoy a treat too!

Of course, no bagel is complete without cream cheese! Bagel Bin makes 600-700lbs of cream cheese a year and offers 25 unique cream cheese flavors, including favorites like chive, chocolate chip, garlic herb, jalapeño cheddar, jalapeño green chili, lox & horseradish, pimiento green olive, and red onion roasted garlic & black pepper.

Their menu also features creative entrees like the Fluffer Nutter Bagel, Eggs Florentine, Enchilada Casserole, and a Salmon Burger.

Bagel Bin is always hiring and is open from 5am-2pm Monday to Sunday. They also cater for your special occasions.
