For more than 50 years, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Did you know, more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year?
As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) highlights the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories.
In 1953 the SBA was created as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.
In 2017 the SBA Loan Production Office of Core Bank was created in KC to assist small businesses. We quickly grew and in January 2018 Core Bank opened as an official bank office with the ability to take deposits and provide private banking services, mortgage and consumer lending.
Our loan team closed nearly $26 million in Small Business loans for 25 local businesses, making Core Bank the #1 Bank in Kansas City for our SBA loan production!
Because a week long Small Business celebration just doesn’t feel like enough time for us to thank and celebrate our clients, we’ve decided to recognize them for the entire month of May.

Core Bank is busy planning several events, such as:

  • SBA will be awarding RoKC the Small Business Veteran Business of the Year Award
  • Core Bank Client Thank You Social at BarK
  • Core Bank Staff will drop off surprise gifts at client businesses
