Core Bank Donates 36,453 Diapers to Nebraska Diaper Bank
At the start of November, we kicked off our fifth annual diaper drive for Nebraska Diaper Bank. This year’s goal was to reach 32,000 diapers and we are proud to say that we exceeded our goal this year. Thanks to the generosity of our employees, customers, and community members we were able to exceed our goal with 36,543 diapers (4,543 more than our goal) – and a 15% increase from last year’s total (31,512)!
In addition to donating, we hosted our yearly Food for Thought & Diaper Wrapping Party on Giving Tuesday. Employees listened to Anna Lehotyak speak about NDB’s mission and worked together to unbox and wrap diapers into packs. This simple step gives NDB the ability to distribute quickly to families in need.
Core Bank’s annual Diaper Drive and Diaper Wrap is one of our favorite traditions that we look forward to every year. Seeing employees, customers, and community members come together reminds us that when we rally around families, real change happens. We are so grateful for Core Bank’s continued partnership and for helping us ensure more babies have the diapers they need.

The Impact of a Diaper
Providing diapers for a family is impactful in more ways than you would expect. 1 in 3 families in Nebraska struggle to provide diapers, as they are not covered by SNAP, MEDICAID, and WIC programs. This leaves many low-income families having to choose between clean diapers and other essential items.
Diaper Need affects families in multiple ways:
Employment
Many daycare providers require parents to bring a supply of disposable diapers, meaning parents without diapers may have to miss work
Hygiene
When diapers are provided, families are less likely to “dry” and re-use disposable diapers or change diapers less often.
Familial Effects
Receiving diapers helps families pay bills or save their money – leading them to more stable living situations
The highest rates of child abuse and neglect coincide with the time children are potty training, often when parents attempt training too soon to save on diapers.
Infant Development
Clean diapers help babies stay happier, healthier and sleep better
It is theorized that poor diaper hygiene can damage the infant’s development of parental bonding, attachment, and emotional regulation
We had a grand total of 2,604 physical diapers donated from employees, customers, and community members.The rest of the donated diapers were given through monetary donations.

Nebraska Diaper Bank currently provides diapers for 5,000 children every month – giving many struggling families in Nebraska one less thing to worry about. And even more impressive, since 2014 Nebraska Diaper Bank has distributed a grand total of 12,280,447 diapers (https://nebraskadiaperbank.org/who-we-are/impact/). This year they are on track to donate their highest ever total, and we are honored to be a part of this achievement.
It takes all of us—neighbors, companies, faith communities, and teams across Nebraska—to close the diaper gap.
