The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics recognize organizations that demonstrate strong ethical practices, community leadership, and a commitment to trust. The BBB recently honored Core Bank with a Torch Award for Ethics. As a result, the organization now advances to the International Torch Awards, with final selections announced this fall.
Our commitment to ethics is built into how we operate every day. We reinforce it through ongoing training, leadership development, and practical discussions about real-world situations. We strive to be an organization our customers trust, our employees are proud to be part of, and our communities can rely on. That takes intention, consistency, and a shared commitment to Building Better every day.
Community Banking In Action
An anonymous nominator submitted us for the award (thank you to our mystery nominator!). As a result, we went though the BBB’s application process centered around what the BBB calls the “Four C’s”:
- Character: How leadership communicates and demonstrates integrity, ethical practices, and core values
- Culture: The environment we create to build trust, empower employees, and maintain a healthy workplace
- Customers: The honesty, transparency, and fairness we bring to every customer relationship
- Community: Our philanthropic impact, volunteerism, and support of the communities we serve
Subsequently, our team worked together to develop detailed responses, pulling together real examples, personal stories, online reviews, and our Community Impact Report to give the BBB a full picture of who we are.
As a result, these personal stories highlighted meaningful moments—from fraud prevention wins to helping small businesses grow to supporting customers on their path to homeownership. Thank you to our retail, deposit ops, and mortgage teams for contributing stories.
The organizations we celebrate this year have set a clear standard for doing business the right way. Their leadership in fostering ethical environments strengthens trust across our entire region.
We are honored to receive a BBB Torch Award, and strive for employees, customers, and community members to feel cared for, appreciated, and empowered.
