Core Bank - Volunteering at Wayside WaifsI left work early last Friday and played with puppies. My co-worker and partner in crime, Jen Williams, left work early as well. No, we weren’t playing hooky…

CORE BANK’S VTO PROGRAM

Core Bank has a Volunteering Time Off (VTO) program. We were able to volunteer at Wayside Waifs, Kansas City’s largest no-kill animal shelter and pet adoption campus.
Core Bank - Volunteering at Wayside WaifsWayside Waifs is an independent 501 (c) not-for-profit humane society and animal welfare organization established in 1944. Our guide, Amanda Smasal, provided us with a tour of the facility, which included their veterinary clinic, adoption center, and behavior training area. They are always in need of volunteers who can help in all areas of the center, including pet adoptions.
During our time volunteering, Jen and I assisted with filling goody bags to be handed out at the next fundraiser, Strutt With Your Mutt, Kansas City’s largest dog friendly 3K walk and 5K run. Fundraising is key for Wayside Waifs to continue to serve the KC community.
Thanks to Core Bank providing volunteering time off to its associates, Jen and I were able to enjoy an afternoon outside of the office, cuddling puppies, petting dogs and cats, and having fun, all while making a difference. And a big thank you to Amanda at Wayside Waifs for giving us a great tour!
