Women’s History Month: Women in Finance

March is Women’s History Month and it’s significant to reflect on the many important contributions women have made to society, including in finance. Women’s contributions and accomplishments have largely been overlooked and consequently omitted from mainstream culture. This month’s observance had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 originally called “Women’s History Week.” Then in 1987, after Congress continued to pass resolutions, the President proclaimed March “Women’s History Month.” Many events over the past half-century have helped to expand the financial rights of U.S. women along with courageous women who persisted to make positive changes for their communities.

Community Impact Award: Omaha Bridges Out of Poverty

Omaha Bridges Out of Poverty was awarded the Core Bank Community Impact Award for the fourth quarter with a gift of $5,000. They were selected among several other applicants also very worthy of the award. The Committee’s focus is on where “real impact” can be seen and measured, and Omaha Bridges Out of Poverty marked those boxes.

Core Bank Employees Make the Holidays Brighter

For the past 24 years, Core Bank has been able to provide Christmas gifts for over 100 families and over 120 elderly individuals. This year, as in years past, Core Bank employees have chosen to adopt four families from local schools and six elderly individuals from the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging.
